Free Interval Training Examples

I would like to turn your attention to this page where you can download free examples of interval training, in case you didn't already know.

There is an example of interval training for fatloss and an example of interval training for speed development. I don't think the stamina development interval training program example is up yet, so you'll have to wait for that.

You can read every where that interval training is essential to an effecient fatloss program but not many places provide you with an actual interval training protocol so that's why I have put one up for you here.

Interval Timer

I have been asked about how to best time the intervals when you do interval training. It is true that it can be a hassle to look at your stopwatch all the time and sometimes it ruins the intensity at the end of the interval.

So, I have been checking out the market for interval timers and found one that I can recommend for its conveniency.

I like the fact that it is small and easily clips on to your clothes. It is very inexpensive and simple to use.

How can interval training help you...

...if your goal is burning fat
Research and results from fat loss experts around the world shows that the high intensity of exercise that you get in interval training creates a metabolic after burn effect that may last up to 38 hours after the workout - on top of the increase in metabolism during the workout itself! This effect is much lower with lower intensities of workout.
This means that you get far more “fat burn” for your workout time with interval training. Read more about fat loss and interval training here

...if your goal is cardio-vascular health
You get better progress in less time.

...if your goal is preparing for a specific sport
Only very few sports rely mainly on steady state aerobic activity. Most sports consist of a series of short bouts of work. The duration, intensity and movement pattern in those bouts are what vary from sport to sport. Assimiliating of any of those variables to your sport in your interval training makes it sport specific.
